By Alberta Larkai & Christiana A. AttafuahThe Mayor of Accra, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije has officially confirmed the death of his wife, Mrs. Vanderpuije.
She died after battling with an undisclosed terminal disease.
He also announced the arrangements the family has made for her funeral.
Mr. Vanderpuije was briefing the press at the Kotoka International Airport after returning from South Carolina in the United States with his two daughters.
Mr. Vanderpuije who was dumbfounded and emotional said his wife died on Friday, June 29, 2012 and together with his daughters they would give her have a befitting burial for her.
He disclosed that her there would be wake on July 25, 2012 and the burial on July 26, 2012.
“My family and I have always been together and with God on our side, my daughters and I are going to go through this as well,” he noted.
He said that July 4, 2012 would have been their 30th wedding anniversary and losing her had not been easy for him.
Mr. Vanderpuije indicated that he had received messages from members of the various political parties offering their condolences and expressed his appreciation to them.
